W123/300D - Removing Door and fitting Door

Hey Y'all,

The tips on interior panel removal were great and I found the process quite quick once I figured out the first one at a careful pace.

I'm now ready to remove the front door from my parts car and I'm wondering what the best way to detach the vacuum lines to the door-lock actuator. They go through a rubber connector in the doorway frame and through the side of the door. My feeling is that it would probably be best to separate at the lock-actuator inside the door, rather than inside the car, but perhaps somebody else has a better perspective experience on this?

Also... I'm wondering what the best strategy is for removing the door from its hing-mounting. Should I take the hinges off with the door, thus removing the bolts on the doorway frame? Or should I leave the hinges mounted on the car doorway frame and hope that alignment will be good with the replacement door?

I'm hoping that these doors, and german engineering will allow the replacement parts door to slip into place on the target vehical without very much jiggering and shimming for fit/alignment. Perhaps I'm delusionally hopeful on this though?!

Thanks everybody....
