You could squirt some thin Oil through the Glow Plug holes just so that it has some lube and crank it Clockwise a buch of times so that the Cylinders are lubed some.

I have not read of what type of spec you would get back concerning the reading you would get for your Engine and I do not know what type of DIY is available for it either.

However, Harbor Freight used to sell the a Leak Back Tester. If you go to their site write down the number of the Tester and if you look around you can find how to access the pdf of the instruction booklet.

What I can remember from when I read it is that the Piston should be at TDC on the Compression Stroke and that the reading was in a %. Of course you need an Air Compressore and a way to adjust the incoming air pressure (maybe the tester does this).
