Sorry to dig this up, but I've been battling with fixing the AC and no tach for quite some time now.

MY OVP looked fine and the fuse was not blown so I never considered it the fault before. I had replaced the Klima to no avail and ended up having my compressor hotwired by jumping the pin to get my AC on. That started causing problems with my switches, so I was ACless so far this summer. On a whim I found an OVP for $15 on ebay and ordered it. Put it in today and my tach jumped to life and my AC works great!!!

Again, like the last guy, my OVP looked fine but it was clearly shot! If you have an 85 with no AC, no Cruise, which are all linked to no tach I'd say check the OVP thoroughly first!
