I do not think I would be able to read a 1" gauge.
The width of the Wood Strip area id 1 1/2 inches.

It is a project that I am not planning to do soon. I was just thinking out loud in hopes of getting some other ideas.

There might be room for something like the pic in the thumbnail that I randomly picked from the internet as there as there is room that with the 1 1/2 inches area of the where the wood srip goes there is room below for the gauge pod to hang.
