No gouging or grooves on rotor. Noticed pad was ladend with dust. The Jurid was not one solid piece. There was a vertical gap between and lots of brake dust in the gap. Possible this cuased the grinding noise.

I've had this b4 on my Caravan when I used pads that had gaps or holes on the pads. Dust gets in the holes and affects the braking and the rotors.

So may be the lesson here is to just get solid surface pads - not the ones with gaps or holes.
