I have thrown out all of my old metal strips in favor of these. I have more than thirty of those strips in my tool box. They make finding the proper socket very easy, not to mention the ease of taking a whole set of one type over to the car.
Out here the 99 cent stores sell the plastic socket holders. The square part that hold the sockets has a ball detent just like a socket wrench. However, be sure to push on the balls to make sure the function before you buy as the quality control is poor on some of them.
