Even 2 piece driveshafts with a center support work this way.
My '90 chev has 2 U bolts holding the shaft on at the differential. I can have it off in under 5 min. with one wrench.

The rear u-joint is attached to the differential by u-bolts. The front u-joint just has two yokes - one coming out of the back of the transmission and one on the front of the drive shaft.
I'm not supposed to pull that yoke out of the back of the transmission am I? That never occurred to me. Maybe it's on a spline like a pto shaft or something.
