You should check your Glow Plugs from the connector to the Glow Plugs for worn insulation. You could also check with an Ohm Meter.
From what I have read over a couple years several Members have had the little nut come off the GP and a wire came loose and touched the block or a wire broke off at the Eye and touched the block.

Another area to check is somewhere below the Spin-On Filter (on a 123) there is a clamp that all of the wires go through. It is metal covered with rubber but over time the rubber crumbles.

If Those wires look good and Ohm out OK with the meter there is a good chance the short is inside of the Relay itself.
Some Members have taken apart the Relay to file the Relay contacts. So I assume you could take it appart and see if there is anything messed up or burned inside that might cause a short.
