Oil leaks are _NOT_ normal. At all. And the repairs can either be dirt cheap (valve cover gasket) or fairly expensive (rear seal).

Since you don't have the experience to evaluate it yourself do not buy before getting someone experienced with these particular vehicles to look at it.
