In California once a junkyard acquires ANY vehicle if they sell it it becomes salvage.
Case in point: I have a friend who sells tools outside junkyards in So Cal.
He knows a lot of junkyard owners and employees.
One of the junkyard owners inherited a 1991 190E 2.6 last year, Pearl black/palomimno with just 50k on the clock. His grandmother had owned it from new, hence the low miles, he got it when she died. He did not need it though.
Mint beautiful car, so my friend bought it.
But because of the junkyard taint, it got a salvage title. I rode in it many times, it's beautiful, even the dash gauges are bright orange, meaning it was always garaged. Just a couple of weeks ago we went bar hopping in LA in it, little beast runsa and looks great, it has 60k on it and it's perfect for running around LA
