W124 300D Rear Brake Drag

I’ve noticed lately that my left rear brake pads/caliper drag once when cold. I can back out of the driveway and when I go forward there is a drag and release sensation on the wheels first rotation. From that point on that brake works fine.

I don’t know when the fluid was last flushed. It doesn’t look too bad right now, but I still have that task on my checklist to do to this car which I’ve had for 4 months now.

I am planning to take the rear pads out this weekend and clean the calipers. Are there caliper slide pins on these cars that need grease like on US built cars? I’m not talking about the retaining pins that hold the pads in. What else should I clean and grease to help with this problem?

I’ll check the brake hose for swelling but I don’t recall seeing anything wrong last time I looked at it.

I think this car has the fixed rear caliper and I have already downloaded “42-0160 Checking and replacing brake pads” off the net. Ps2cho.net is such a great resource.

If you have any comments on my situation I’d like to hear them.

Thanks! - Brad
