more mis-information by mti. the fuel tank has been mounted behind the rear seat wall on mercedes cars going back at least to the w114/115 era, before mercedes was building soft crumple zones.

the reason the fuel tank is built behind the seat wall is because it's less likely to be part of the accident, not because of so-called crumple zones
