I have for years had what I have found the quickest cure for the flu, bad colds as well.
Get into the tub, have the water as hot as you can stand it. I mean boil.
I like it in our whirlpool tub.
Have a cup of hot tea, a bowl of soup something hot to drink / eat while you are in there.
Stay in as long as you can, but do be careful.
Get out, dry off.
Get dressed, best is underwear (shorts and shirt) and a sweat suit.
Dress warm.
Take a good shot of Nyquil.
Get right into bed with an extra blanket
Sometimes I put the heating pad in too, just for a short while.
You wake up drenched, and feeling better.
For a bad one might take 2 nights.
Basically sweat it out.
You may not be ready to go back to work, but won't feel like you want to die.
Oh and plan on changing the bed after a day.
