Larry, go to a candle store or import store and get one incense stick.... surely they have something good smelling....one would last you a lifetime of testing.
Maybe it would help to place a squirrel cage fan at the air pickup near the floor or under the dash... mounting would be easier than trying to put a bigger/stronger fan into the original location ( I guess most are inside the heater/evap core enclosure ... what a nightmare )
