I bought a 240D in San Antonio, drove it back to Chicago with no tags, bought a 300TE in Dalllas, drove it back to Chicago with expired Texas tags, bought a 560SL in Scottsdale. drove it back to Chicago with a temp that the dealer gave me, never had a problem, just called my insurance broker with the VIN before I hit the road. When you register the car in Illinois you have to pay for title transfer, new plates and bull **** sales tax!
