Until then I would like to be able for the engine to shut off without having to constantly open the hood and press the shut off lever. Any suggestions?
Thanks a bunch.

Sure you can.
At the bottom of those six switches you'll find the main vacuum line that feeds the switches. Just disconnect and plug this line. You can also do it from under the hood......the line is red with a green stripe. Pull the line off the connection (DON'T BREAK IT) and put a short piece of hose on the connection. Then plug the hose and you're good to go.
