I remember that one in the mid eighties. I lived in Alexandria then and worked in Fairfax. The day that started I left work at noon and it took me seven hours to drive about six miles. Fortunately, I was close to a friend's house when I finally gave up on getting home. There were cars abandoned all over the Beltway like you see in those Armageddon movies.

Later I discovered that there was a 25' deep snow drift across I 395, which was on my route to get home. That was a doozy, alright.
