I have a Seiko 5 with a stainless case that I use when I go to the wrecking yard. After 25 years it still looks great.

A good mechanical watch is an Eternamatic which has not been sold here for about 40 years. I think they just make movements now. Eternamatic invented the self-winding watch, and the ETA movements you hear about are based on Eternamatic movements.

I have one that is about 50 years old. Still looks good and keeps great time. You can normally find one on ebay for less than $100.
