Well, I think my question is answered, thanks again 79Merc, so I guess let the hydrocarbon refrigerant war begin......

If there was a leak at the engine intake, all it would do is give your car a good little boost - ive wanted to try propane injection anyway to give the 240D a little boost

In RE to unnecessary risks, there is a lot that can be said about that. Any time you get in a car period, you are taking a risk. To avoid unnecessary risks, walk. If you must drive, then get a brand new car with all the new safety equipment. Think of the 240D, there is no airbags, and while it has a very strong frame, "new" cars are made to a much higher safety standard.

ANY refrigerant has dangers. Health, environmental, safety.... all have their own issues. I dont smoke, so I am not worried about sparks in the cabin - if I get in an accident (front end), and it is an accident that causes both a leak in the refrigerant lines AND there is a spark or fire big enough to actually ignite the refrigerant, then I will be more concerned about the accident I just had.

Further, I keep many other explosive things in my car all the time anyway - for example how bout my can of either to start the car in case of emergency (yes I know I need to have my glow plugs off to use it)? That would cause quite a boom as well.

R134A sucks for Phoenix Arizona weather, period in these cars. Hydrocarbon refrigerants do a very good job of cooling me off in the summer. R12 is not an option because I am not willing to drain the oil in the system, get a license, obtain the R12, and refill just because I am afraid of an accident.

As far as anyone else working on my system, ill probably own the car till either I die or it dies. Maybe we will both die at the same time in an accident caused by my AC blowing up

I completely respect and thank those who care about my safety. I certainly think that if someone is doing something that is potentially dangerous, the right thing would be to warn them - especially if they are not aware of dangers.

Leathermang, you have helped me out on other posts I have done and appreciate your advice and experience.

I am aware of the potential issues with doing what I am doing. Inst that where the comments about the refrigerant I am using should end? I thought I clearly said something about that in my original post.....

Its like religion. Everyone has their own opinions about which one is right. Your more than welcome to tell me about your religion but if I dont pick yours dont start telling me how I am going to go to hell......
