I love thinking about whats going on under that aluminum hood when im driving. The MB 617 is such an elegant all mechanical engine it just blows my mind how quiet and enjoyable it is to drive. Ive never owned a car without a 617 so it feels completely adequate when it comes to performance.

What I just don't get is how a high-stress mechanical machine which turns high pressure explosions into rotation energy can last 400k+. When you drive the engine it basically not wearing at all. Germans suck electrically but their mechanical and metallurgical skills are just incredible. When a drive a mb diesel I literally feel like im surrounded by the highest grades of steel ever used in a car. Just look at how well the safety cages hold up
