The short version: No.

The 87 TDT transmission starts in 1st, has lower RPM shift points, and a lower stall TC. Might also have different gear ratios for the 2.65:1 rear screw and different power curve, but I'd be guessing on that.

The 90 300E has 2nd-gear start and that other stuff.

They are both 722.3xx transmissions so the basic box apparently will swap.
