First of all, that's not me in the saddle. We're getting Cherry through a relative and that pic is of him. Don't know anything about the other hayburners since that was taken up at his stables in OK and we're down here in Texas.

I positively wouldn't go into this horse business, particularly sight unseen, without the help of Doc. I have complete faith in his judgment and experience.

That said, this promises to be a whole new experience for us since we've never owned a horse but, the idea of having one here at the farm has been talked about many times. Recently, Doc was visiting us we asked him to keep an eye out for a gentle draft horse that could carry me or SWMBO (I'm about 265#) without a problem. Doc and Cherry crossed paths earlier this week at his clinic and the rest, as they say, is history.

My moo-cows will not know what to think about a horse, especially one that's at least 2X the size of the donkeys.

BTW, that was the first time the mare had been tacked up in about 7 months.
