I didn't mention earlier that I responded by email to the first scammer before I realized it was a scam. I gave my first name cell and phone number and told the person to call me.
So yesterday I get a call. The calling number was blocked (my screen said "private call.") I answered. A male mumbled "Hi," I said "Hello, who is this?" He said "How ya' doing," and then hung up. I'm sure it was related to the craigslist scammers. They were testing the number to make sure it was an active number.
So they have my email address to sell to spammers. What do they want my cell phone number for? Sell to telemarketers or something more nefarious? Can they hack into my account and make calls on my dime? Should I contact my cell phone carrier?
