Hog farms cut back their herd sizes over the last two years due to grain prices and that idiotic swine flu scare. For a while there pork was almost free in the grocery stores. Reduced supply + increased summer demand = pay thru the snout.
Chicken, in all it's industrial forms, is a poisonous tragedy, especially when raising your own is so easy, even in a small back yard.
