I'm not interested in banning guns, the second amendment clearly allows them. However, I would prefer that we make an effort to keep them away from the real crazies. As I understand the current system, anyone without a felony record can buy a gun, and obtaining a CCP isn't much more rigorous (depending where you live). I don't see a problem with requiring a potential gun owner (who is about to spend several $100 to several $1000 anyway) to pay for a meaningful background check. As I said, there are requirements and expenses to obtain a driver's license; why is this any different?
