If you are changing the Tranny fluid only and not the filter, its a simple job. Its ok to raise it from front. Also to the torque converter holds about 2-3 quarts of fluid so get that one empty too. Before yoy do the job I suggest you get a new pair of drain bolt( plug) and corresponding aluminum washer for both torque converter and the tranny pan.
I had a worn out washer, and had none in spare, so even after tightening it was dripping a little. I had to next day get the above mentioned washer and a new drain plug and redo the job.

Good luck its very simple if you are just changing the fluid.
