I bought one of the $50 K&N air filters for my last 300SD that is the same shape as the original filters and fits in the air cleaner thinking that I would get more horsepower from it and that it would last a lifetime.

After I bought it I heard about it not being able to add more horsepower in a stock Mercedes and that it does not filter as well as a stock filter and can cause premature wear in dusty conditions.

Now I am back to the stock paper filters again.
