This doesn't surprise me at all. My local dealer is an MB/BMW dealer as well and the guys that work in the parts department are just as bad as the ones you described. They are absolutely clueless when it comes to looking up the correct parts and placing orders. There were many instances where they didn't know what in the world I was talking about, told me an item was no longer available when in reality it was, or ordered the incorrect part. It got to the point were I never went there without the specific part number for the item I wanted because I couldn't rely on them to locate what I needed.

I now order from an OE MB wholesaler where I get genuine MB parts at a substantial discount. Since I have to look up all the part numbers on EPC anyway I figure I might as well save a bunch of money. Anyway, I don't want to give my business to an authorized dealership that can hardly locate the correct part numbers for the vehicle brands they sell.
