The Saratoga is tied up in Newport RI & has been for years. The Forrestal was there too before she was towed to Philly to join the JFK.
In Puget Sound Washington, the Independence, Kitty Hawk, Ranger and Constellation are all laid up.
The Navy hasn't scrapped a carrier in years. They have sunk a few for different reasons. I can't imagine environmentalists won't get flamed over sinking a nuclear carrier, no matter how much money the Navy might want to spend on cleaning her up. So, I guess they may have to cut her up and bury her steel somewhere to cool off for the next 50 years.

Well....once you get the reactors out the rest of the ship shouldn't have any radioactive contamination. BUT considering when it was built i'm sure there are plenty of equally nasty things laying around inside of that massive hull...
