Just another example of why I will never live where there is an HOA. A reasonable idea conceived to keep the neighborhood nice, which has degraded (in many cases) to a bunch of busybodies who can't kep their nose out of other peoples business, and apparently, like to kick while you're down... How easy for the same group of people, with a different attitude, to create a temporary exclusion for you based upon the circumstances which have befallen the vehicle. But, that would be helpful... neighborly even...
