Yikes he was lucky! Amazing how many times friendly forces were directly overhead yet refused to call out rescue teams.

Sadly though I can understand the position of the pilots overhead. From then air you usually just can't tell who is signaling you. The last thing you want is to land a helicopter in an open field only to have enemy forces ambush it.
