The poster I responded to stated that the OP should run an auction and shill bid. I stated that was illegal which is factually correct. I also stated they should use a reserve if they wanted to control the price. That is also factually correct. A reserve controls the minimum the car will sell for. And with a shill bid you quite often wind up with no sale as the shill ends up being the high bidder.

When I originally posted regarding shill bidding being illegal, I wasn't offering advice on how to change the outcomes of any auctions. It seems you've taken the ball and run with it for some reason. The bidders always determine the outcome of an auction. I was merely stating the proper way of protecting one's interest in a vehicle.
