Go to autozone and buy a set of rhino ramps. IMO they are safer then jackstands, easier to use, and perfect for a quick look under the car, doing an oil change, whatever.

That picture of the 606 looks just like what my memory tells me my 603 is like.

If your engine has good compression and your battery is good, I would think you could get it to start at 26* with no glow plugs. It will take a LOT of cranking though.
