The 602 was introduced with the 603 in the mid '80s, and did have the same flaws and updates into the '90s

Do check on the timing chain, and the wire harness. There are a couple of sensors that will not allow boost if they or the wires to them fail, plus other general sensors, not nearly as critical nor as hard to repair as the gas versions of wire harness in '93.
