I was totally blown away about the weather we had for the drive. When we left Monrovia, it was raining and cold. I had expected to do the drive with my wipers on all the way. We got down to the 10 and the closer we got to L.A., the more blue sky we saw. By the time we reached Norm's, we had blue skies with a few clouds.
The drive along the coast and in the canyon was spectacular! We stopped a few time to take pictures and chat. We picked up another diesel (cjbrown) and made it to Claim Jumper early. Jack and his girlfriend showed up with his really nice SL (the only non-diesel).
Our hosts, the Roth's came to eat with us and after lunch and a few more pictures, we were off to visit the
American Sports Car Collection .
The quality of the cars is almost beyond words. He has a few rare (only 1 or 2 known to exist) cars such as the Maverick and Woodill "Wildfire". Others include a Muntz Jet, Hudson Italia and Nash Healy. He also has your "garden variety" 55 T-Bird and a 55 Corvette.
We left around 4:00 under sunny skies and took the 118 to the 210 back to Monrovia. When we got to Sunland, it was snowing! The traffic slowed for about 3 miles, and once we got to La Canada, it was just a light rain. We arrived home to sunny skies.
We had a fantastic time on the drive and at the Roth's and hope to do this cruise again.......Dennis
