Mine allows the car to be driven 8months, it is not monitored but as I live in the rust-belt, it doesn't see daylight once the salt comes out anyway.
If/when I put classic plates on it (next year eligible) I'll look at the rules there. I was running collector plates on a BlueBird Wanderlodge (motorhome), made a lot of calls to find out if there was any reason not to, nobody could come up with one, and since I belonged to several associated clubs there was always a club event somewhere on the continent. Saved me almost $800/year in license plate fees (Michigan).
