I went to a Catholic elementary/middle school in the 90's. I was there for nearly five years, and the preists/deacons were always the same. Everyone liked them, etc. Then one day they are ALL gone. Transferred to another diocese with no explanation or notice. This was before a lot of the scandals started coming out. You don't have to be a genius to put 2+2 togethr.
The principal of my father's Catholic high school, halfway across the country, was outed as a molester nearly 40 years after my father graduated.
For every case that was brought out publicly, there are probably 20 more that weren't. Sad.
