I have a gasser cluster in my W124 diesel; I tapped into the transmission vacuum line and it works great for the economy gauge since the diesel creates a "simulated" manifold vacuum. I don't know if the 126 cluster will fit a 123 but you could always try with junkyard parts, wouldn't cost a lot.
