Look up the mpg numbers of the w124 3L turbo, w124 2.5L turbo, w201 2.5L turbo. The 3L doesn't do as well mpg wise for the same weight car, whereas smaller engine equals more mpg.

Oh, there's a 190d that comes with a 2.5L turbo stock btw. Might be peppy enough for ya.
