HitManX was right on.
What is needed here is a partial flow filtration set up, it uses a small line to sample off the full flow filter, usually at the oil pressure sender to gradually remove contaminants.

Surely there must be room for the aux filter somewhere under the hood on that big S-body?

Pssst! has anyone got a bypass filter adapter (full flow, to remount the filter) for a W115 chassis (gasser or diesel) if so please Email me! I've been looking for one for 10 years. They do exist, an aftermarket thing.
