I once used an early LS 400 for vehicle search training. I don't remember it smelling funny. I do remember it was pushing 200,000 miles and still running good, just like the Toyota that it was. The owner was one of my Navy buddies. She may still have it.
I'm still not planning on buying one. Lately I've been starting to think about Porsches, but the only one I really like is the 911/912, and decent examples of those all seem to cost more than I'm willing to spend. 914's can be had for cheap, but they don't really thrill me, and the front engine ones don't do anything for me at all.
