A 123.153 could have either a 722.3 or 722.4 transmission, on an 83 I would tend to believe it's a 722.3. Not a 722.1 for sure.
The whole transmission number is stamped into the case on the right (passengers) side just above the transmission pan. It would also be in the "Warrtungsheft" (warranty sheet?) which is just inside the back cover of the maintenance book or warranty book.
