And the answer is ...YES! I cut away part of the defective lock assy to see what held the switch in. As you see in the picture there are plastic catches on either side of the switch that lock the switch in place (similar to how an in dash stereo is locked into it's receiver). You can release them by sliding a piece of .040" wire or a large paper clip down either side of the switch from the same end as the connector to release the tabs, then slide it out the opposite side. The key has to to be in the acc or run position to depress the switch button when you slide it out.
