I noticed the differential on the 1985 is bolted to the subframe on the front side in addition to the differential mount on the back side. I don't believe the 1984 was bolted on the front side because it moved up and down once the differential mount was removed. It was a bit tricky to unbolt the top 2 differential cover bolts on the 85 because I could not lower the diff.

Yes, I'm in the process of replacing the axles on my 85D.
