The PO has had the most unbelievably bad luck with this car and crooked auto shops over the last year, totalling thousands in repairs, think she's already spent that much on what turned out to be a bad plug on the back of the alternator she fixed herself, so she might be done for good. She has had numerous people flat out lie, gouge, and mis-diagnose trying the milk the absolute most amount of cash in the sake of "safety".
It does not pay to be a woman with an old car who it dependant on auto shops, even a couple of places I suggested to her where I had a good experience turned out to either be relentlessly sexist, or bill padders in her case

wow. what a perfect opportunity to flaunt this forum!
she's even got a head start, knowing how to fix the alternator harness...
