It's a sales tax. I don't have an issue with the tax as I do with the appraisal value. It's fair to pay tax on what you buy. It's unfair for them to decide what they think it's worth and tax you on that. This amounted to a 30% tax which is considerably more then what I would pay in taxes when I lived in Europe.

That's a red state for you.
