I dove into project OM617 engine swap today only to spend three hours on one stubborn 10mm bolt clinging to the fan/water pump puller in place that some previous imbecile had completely stripped. In my zeal to unfasten it the bloody crank turned CCW a couple degrees so I'm praying the chain didn't slack enough to lose time. I'll check the cam timing, so keep your fingers crossed for me. Today I also drained the coolant, removed the air cleaner assy, and the heater hoses. I drained the PS fluid with my nifty air compressor powered mityvac thing, it worked a treat! I disconnected the PS lines at the pump, and then unbolted and removed the pump.
There's still plenty left to do before I can yank the donor motor, but it feels good to at least get started. I'm incredibly tired now. Goodnight.
