170V were a good seller in Australia in the post war years. Remarkable considering Australia and New Zealand lost a generation of young men in WW2 and German and Japanese products were looked at askance .
But in OZ,Termites ate the wood out of cars and many old Chevs etc dissapeared years ago because of this.
170's were no different and today the survivors are highly prized by their owners. In 1951 a couple of adventurous types type a 170 Diesel from brisbane to Cairns and back at 35MPG .. So what ,you ask? .Well even today such a drive takes two days at 60 MPH. in those days there wasn't even a road....
