Hey guys,
So I was working inside my doors and I managed to break the little plastic piece that connects the actual key mechanism to the lock mechansim broke, so now my door lock is unaffected by my key. From what I can tell, this is a common piece to break.
I think I'm just going to install a keyless entry system since I've wanted to do that anyway, and it would take care of my issue, from what i can tell. However, that's what I wanted to check on.
Despite that the plastic piece that connects the key lock to the internal lock is broken, I should still be able to hook up the keyless entry actuator to the lock mechanism, correct? I know this won't restore the functionality of the key mechanism, but I'm okay with that. As long as I can open the car from the outside.
I was looking at this kit...
Mercedes-Benz Keyless Entry with Actuator & 2 Flip Key Remotes - United Auto Security, LLC
The kit is actually $150 when ordered without the window modules and key cutting service. I know there are cheaper options/kits, but I like this one. I like that it's been optimized for a W123, and I lik that the fob has a flip-out key that can be cut to my car key. That's really cool IMO. haha
If I can still hook it up, despite the key lock not funtioning, I'll be sure to order that kit.
Thanks guys!
