The History:
I was driving down the Interstate, and lightly accelerated to pass a car, and heard a noise under the hood. It sounded similar to the pinging of a gas car. It lost power, and I pulled it over, and towed it home.
I decided that it was getting fuel up to the injector pump, but not enough pressure coming out of the IP.
I didnt want to mess with the IP, so I took it to a reputable shop. They agreed with me, and replace the IP. It still wont start. They diagnosed it more, and said that I was getting power to the EDS, but no power coming out of the EDS. They were 100% sure it was the EDS. He told me the results of his test, but all I can remember. I remember that there was voltage getting into the EDS, but nothing coming out. He said that OVP is good. HE said the EDS supplied voltage to the IP. So they replaced the EDS, and it still doesn't start. They say that they can run it on ether, and said that there was a lot of oil in the exhaust pipe. (a big black spot on the ground under the tailpipe.
They have pretty much given up, an I am looking for assistance.
Does anyone have any pointers that I can check? Maybe something they missed????
I am pretty sure it is not getting fuel.
This sounds like more a mechanical failure not electrical.
Compression test needed.
Does it crank ok? Not fast then slow then fast.
Was there oil at the tail pipe previously?
Any history of problems?
Will it start on WD40?
